On a similar thread

Okay so after my early morning rant on fanfic I came across this article which talks about how the author of "Everything Bad is Good for You: How Today's Popular Culture is Actually Making Us Smarter" states...well just that. So I guess fanfic is just a what you get when you have increased mental capacity and a lot of time on your hands.

Hi Sam,

I was surfing and found your blog. You are a very good writer. I enjoyed reading all your postings.

I saw you were planning to quit Medicine. Don't give up.

Think, in America life expectancy of a man who doesn’t smoke and drink is more then 90 years. When you will be 90, life expectancy will be at least 125 years. Suppose your age is 25 now. So you will be living 100 more years. It makes sense to invest 4 to 5 years in getting admission in med school. Don't give up, invest 1 or 2 more years and rest of your 100 year life will be more fruitful.

It is tough to get admission in Med School, but once you get in it's very easy to graduate. 98% of students who enter med school become doctors.

You are very smart and I am confident that you will pass MCAT next time.

You just started your journey and you want to give up so soon? Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed if you quit now and do not finish med school. Don’t live your life with regrets.

You have worked very hard and now when you are so close to success, now you want to give up?

Remember what "Brian Tracy" said: - 'Most people achieved their greatest success one step beyond what looked like their greatest failure."

You have not gotten into med school so far because there are people here who needed you more. Now you will get in because there are people in the 3 rd world who need you more. There are billions of people who need your expertise. So don't think you are alone on this path. Along with you are the prayers of those billions of underprivileged and less fortunate people who need you.

Best of luck for your future.
